70 years of Libraries in Swindon are being celebrated on the 14th of November at the Central Library

We are very fortunate in having had the the new Central Library for 5 years; apart from the obvious function, providing books to take home to read and reference books, there is a cafe, toilets, meetings, talks, information centre. If you visit the library, you will know that it's a well used space, today there was a mother feeding her baby, someone else reading to her daughter, people using computers, drinking coffee, buying food and we were putting up the new exhibition.
On the 14th of November, celebrations include:
  • 11am a special story and rhyme time with Bookstart Bear
  • 12-2pm, a jazz trio in Chapters Cafe
  • E-Book demonstrations 10am-12 & 5pm-7pm
  • Swindon Monopoly competition
  • Displays on the Library Service and partner services
  • poetry readings and more!
More at www.swindon.gov.uk/libraries soon
Also the opening night of Tim Carroll's exhibition between 6pm-8pm in the Corridor Gallery
